St. Paul’s Vision Statement for Art and Design.

At St. Paul’s our vision is that Art and Design has the capacity to allow all children of all ages and abilities to communicate and experiment in a creative and varied manner. Art and Design is also a vehicle through which children can express themselves and this helps to stimulate imagination and inventiveness. Art and Design is also a medium for celebration of culture and diversity. Children are given opportunities to develop their understanding of a range of artists and discuss how Art and Design has shaped history.

A high quality Art and Design education should engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to invent and create their own works of art, craft and design.

St Paul’s Vision Statement for DT

At St. Paul’s we aim to offer a challenging and engaging Design and Technology curriculum, which is consolidated across all aspects of our curriculum, relating to real life opportunities to design and make real products. This will delivered by knowledgeable and highly motivated staff who support all children so they can reach their full potential.

Design and Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. By using creativity and imagination, children learn new skills to enable them to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems, within a range of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. The children acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw upon disciplines such as Mathematics, Science, Computing and Art. Through the evaluation of past and present design and technology, they develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world.
